In 2015, Akka Kappa Ltd emerged as a dynamic real estate agency in Accra, Ghana, founded by a visionary woman, Jolanda Castagna. After relocating to Ghana with her family in the 90's Jolanda entered the real estate industry as a novice but with dedication and hardwork, she mastered her craft after working with a big real estate firm in Ghana. With over 30 years of experience in the Ghanaian market, Jolanda's vision was to create a client-centered firm that prioritizes the needs and interests of its clients, aiming to build long-lasting relationships. Akka Kappa was therefore birthed out of a desire to run a part-time venture in Accra. The name Akka Kappa is a combination of two letters: “H” and “K”, where “H” stands for "Housing" and “K” stands for the name “Karim,” Jolanda’s first grandchild. The pronunciation of “H” in Italian is "Akka," and “K” is "Kappa." That is how we got the name Akka Kappa which connotes "Karim's House".
The company started by offering sales and lettings services but gradually expanded its portfolio to include property management, international investment advisory, expatriate relocation support, and construction consultancy. This expansion was driven by a commitment to providing comprehensive solutions for all real estate needs, ensuring clients receive expert guidance and support throughout their property journey.
After some months, the company soon came to a realization that we are not ones to do things halfway. If we truly wanted to provide our clients with the level of service we would expect from a trustworthy real estate agency, we needed to change our approach and develop our own strategy.
This made us delve deeper into the industry, analyze market trends, and formulate a solid strategy that would guide our agency's operations. However, running the business single-handedly was becoming overwhelming, and it was time to expand. So, we began the process of hiring, and slowly but surely, the team started to grow.
In 2017, a remarkable opportunity arose when Edoardo Castagna, a key team member, decided to return from the United States, where he had been working as a marketing specialist.
Edoardo brought his expertise and fresh perspective, and together, we embarked on an incredible journey of growth—growth in terms of property portfolio, services, and client base.
Over the years, Akka Kappa has built a solid reputation for reliability and excellence. The firm's client-centric culture focuses on continuously introducing innovative ideas to enhance the client experience in Ghana. This approach has led to the establishment of strong relationships with esteemed customers and partners, positioning Akka Kappa as a trusted brand that delivers optimum value with excellent customer care.
A couple of years later, right before the pandemic hit, Jimmy Castagna joined us as the technical director, setting up the Construction Consultancy department. (A little secret here—he is also Jolanda’s husband, but they were married long before he joined Akka Kappa.)
With decades of experience in the construction industry across Nigeria, Italy, and Ghana, Jimmy brought invaluable expertise to the firm. His leadership has been instrumental in overseeing projects that have contributed to Accra's evolving skyline, reflecting the company's dedication to quality and innovation. His department now includes architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, project managers, and several incredible ongoing projects.
We take immense pride in our extraordinary dream team, comprising a group of talented and dedicated young professionals. Among them, we have listing specialists, property consultants, customer care executives, human resource executives, contract specialists, marketing executives, accountants, and a committed team of property managers.
